Consecration to the Immaculate Heart
Consecrating yourself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary means entrusting your entire life to her maternal care. The act of consecration involves a deep commitment to live out the virtues that Mary exemplifies—humility, purity, and obedience to God’s will. This consecration was particularly stressed during the Third Apparition of Our Lady on July 13, 1917, when she called for souls to seek refuge in her Immaculate Heart as a path to God. (Third Apparition of Our Lady, July 13, 1917).
Daily Rosary
Our Lady of Fatima specifically requested the daily recitation of the Rosary, describing it as the key to peace in the world. In her First Apparition on May 13, 1917, she asked the children to pray the Rosary daily for the conversion of sinners and the end of the war. The Rosary is a powerful weapon against evil and a path to growing closer to Christ through the mysteries of His life, death, and resurrection. (First Apparition of Our Lady, May 13, 1917).
Offering Sacrifices
In her Second Apparition on June 13, 1917, Our Lady encouraged the offering of sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. These sacrifices can take the form of daily sufferings, struggles, and acts of penance, offered up in union with Christ’s suffering on the Cross. (Second Apparition of Our Lady, June 13, 1917).
The Brown Scapular
Our Lady of Fatima emphasized the importance of wearing the Brown Scapular as a sign of consecration to her Immaculate Heart. Sister Lucia, one of the visionaries, later confirmed the importance of this devotion. The Brown Scapular, associated with the Carmelite Order, is a sacramental that expresses a commitment to living out the virtues of Our Lady and seeking her protection. (Sixth Apparition of Our Lady, October 13, 1917)
First Saturdays
The Five First Saturdays devotion, which was revealed during the Third Apparition of Our Lady on July 13, 1917, involves offering acts of reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This devotion includes going to Confession, receiving Holy Communion, praying five decades of the Rosary, and spending 15 minutes meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary for five consecutive First Saturdays. (Third Apparition of Our Lady, July 13, 1917).

The First Five Saturdays
Understanding the Devotion
This devotion was requested by Our Lady as a means of making reparation for the sins committed against her Immaculate Heart. The devotion involves performing specific acts of reparation on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, with the intention of comforting the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Checklist
Confession: Make a sacramental confession within eight days before or after the First Saturday, with the intention of making reparation.
Holy Communion: Receive Holy Communion on the First Saturday itself, offering it in reparation for the sins against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Rosary: Pray five decades of the Rosary, reflecting on the mysteries.
Meditation: Spend 15 minutes in meditation on one or more mysteries of the Rosary.
Intentions: Offer all these acts with the specific intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The Fatima Promises
The Great Promise
Our Lady made a profound promise: those who faithfully observe the Five First Saturdays devotion, with the intention of making reparation to her Immaculate Heart, will be granted the grace of final perseverance. She promised to assist them at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for salvation.
The Miracle of the Sun
On October 13, 1917, during the final apparition, tens of thousands of people witnessed the Miracle of the Sun. The sun appeared to dance in the sky, changing colors and moving erratically, confirming the authenticity of the apparitions. This miraculous event served as a sign of the truth of the Fatima message and the urgency of following it.
The Fatima Prayers
The Pardon Prayer
This prayer was taught by the Angel of Peace in 1916:
"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You. I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You."
The Angel's Prayer
This is another prayer given to them by the Angel of Peace. There was a Eucharistic host and chalice suspended in the air, and the angel led them in kneeling before it and praying this prayer:
"O Most Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners."
This prayer emphasizes reparation and the need for conversion.
The Fatima Prayer (Decade Prayer)
Our Lady taught the children this prayer to be said after each decade of the Rosary:
"O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy."
This prayer asks for mercy and the salvation of souls, particularly those most in need.
The Sacrifice Prayer
Our Lady gave this prayer for offering up sacrifices:
"O Jesus, it is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary."
The Eucharistic Prayer
When Mary appeared to the children for the first time on May 13, 1917, she said, “You will have much to suffer, but the grace of God will be your comfort.” According to Sr. Lucia, a bright light shone all around them, and without thinking about it, they all started reciting this prayer:
"Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Amen."

Prayer for the Canonization of Sr. Lucia
"O Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly and I thank You for the apparitions of the Most Holy Virgin in Fatima. Through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I implore You, if it should be for Your greater glory and the good of our souls, to glorify in the sight of Your Holy Church Sister Lucia, the shepherdess of Fatima, by granting us through her intercession the grace which we now implore. Amen."
Fatima and the World Today
Fatima's Prophecies
Many of the prophecies given by Our Lady at Fatima have been fulfilled, including the rise of communism and the persecution of the Church. However, her call for prayer, penance, and conversion remains more relevant than ever. The world today continues to face crises of faith, war, and sin, and the Fatima message provides a path to peace through devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, personal conversion, and trust in God’s mercy.
